Connecting kids with nature and teaching them about fishing and crabbing is more than education—it's passing on a cultural heritage.

In our new podcast episode, we'll hear about a pilot project led by Michael Hodges, a wildlife biologist and program manager for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, the project gets students and volunteers involved in skill-based learning through marsh and oyster restoration, fishing, and crabbing with local professionals. The project involves many partners, but is supported by NOAA Fisheries in conjunction with the National Fish Habitat Partnership.

We'll also hear from Tia Clark, the owner and head crabber of Casual Crabbing with Tia. She is one of the project volunteers who considers it her mission to connect kids (and everyone!) with the water and their environmental heritage.
